This workshop is a beginner hand-building class in our CREATING WITH CLAY hand-building series – the first of 4 individual classes. Students will be introduced to the basics of working with and hand-building with clay, and will learn basic construction techniques in order to properly assemble hand-built forms. 

Students will learn the properties of clay in different stages, the purpose of various tools and implements, along with various techniques necessary for constructing CLAY SLAB BOTTLES. Students will also learn how to apply surface decoration, along with how glaze can be applied successfully to achieve various affects.

Emphasis will be on construction and creation of a stable form and the application of decorative elements.

Students will each receive a complimentary 2-hour Open Studio session at our main Studio at 1511 Colley Ave where they will be able to apply glaze and complete their projects.

Class size limited – No previous experience necessary

• Students will leave with up to 2 finished pieces

No experience is necessary for this class. Most supplies will be provided.
